Do you like working out?
Are you between the ages of 18 and 36 years old?
Currently able to participate in all physical activity?
If so, you may be eligible to participate in the Soldier Performance And Readiness as Tactical Athletes (SPARTA) research study, in which you'll train with personal trainers for 3 months and participate in a series of performance tests, throughout. Compensation provided.
What is involved if I participate?
We are asking for volunteer subjects who are physically active and are available to train with a personal trainer for 60-90 minutes, 3-4 times per week, for a total of 12 weeks. Additionally, all volunteer subjects will be asked to take part in pre- and post-testing sessions to further understand how physical training changes both physiological and performance measures. All participants will have blood drawn and will undergo muscle biopsies. The biopsy involves making a small incision on your thigh and using a needle to remove a small sample of the muscle. The pre-training testing will take an additional two weeks before training while post testing will take an additional two weeks after training, for a total time commitment of about 16 weeks.
